About the Building: Education for the Future
The Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education was named in recognition of Senator Pete Domenici’s extraordinary contribution towards quality education and health care in New Mexico. The firm of Dekker / Perich / Sabatini were the architects for the project. The Center was constructed through the generous support of New Mexico taxpayers and federal funding. Phase I of the Center officially opened for classes in January 2007, and the building was dedicated in August 2007.
Two More Construction Phases Planned
Two more phases of the Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education are planned. These future buildings will offer more classroom space as well as a Clinical Performance Center, including a Human Anatomy Lab.
The Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education Center is designed to lead the way in educating tomorrow’s health care providers by incorporating state-of-the-art classroom technology with innovative teaching programs. Management through the Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center with its integrated library, informatics, educational development and technology support services ensure the Center meets the challenge of the changing landscape of education in the 21st Century.
