Module
1Module Description: A mother presents to the ER with her infant who has poor color, is not breathing well and has facial twitching. The nurse immediately brings the baby to a room and a full resuscitation of a simulator infant in status epilepticus is filmed at the University of New Mexico HSC "Batcave" medical training center. This medical scenario visually instructs medical personnel in the algorithmic steps in the emergency treatment of a pediatric patient in status epilepticus. The use of the pediatric length based resuscitation tape is demonstrated in the scenario to estimate weight and determine equipment sizes. A special video training discussion at the end of the module further describes the importance and demonstrates the proper use of the pediatric length based resuscitation tape.
