PI and HRRC Eligibility Policies

PI

To be eligible to be the PI on an extramural grant or contract administered through the SOM, an individual must either be a contract (paid) UNM faculty member or a salaried UNM staff member who has a current Letter of Academic Title in a UNM department. In addition, the individual must hold an MD, DO, PhD, or equivalent professional degree.

HRRC

The SOM HRRC will only review those protocols for human subject research on which the PI either is a contract (paid) UNM faculty member or is a salaried UNM staff member AND has a Letter of Academic Title in a UNM department.

Exceptions to this policy can be granted by the Dean upon petition by a Chair. This policy applies to all new proposals and competing renewals after the date of its approval.
