Important note: The process of requesting and forwarding transcripts and
"Credit Evaluation Statements" takes considerable time. Protect yourself by
planning ahead so that you will be in compliance with the September 1st deadline.
Do not underestimate the time involved in these procedures.
Candidates are also advised to remember that it is solely their responsibility
to contact the Division to assure themselves that indeed their documents have
been received. This is referred to as a "File Check" and can be accomplished by
calling the Division and speaking with a receptionist or her delegate. The
division will make no attempt to contact applicants regarding incomplete
applications. Incomplete applications will not be considered. (a completed
application includes all documents, and all four pages of the application). Also
includes application fee payable to UNM Division of Dental Hygiene.
Pre-professional courses may be in progress at the time of application providing
the courses will be satisfactorily completed at the time of entry into the
program. However, it is important to realize that those having completed all
prerequisite courses prior to the Dental Hygiene Committee's Evaluation Process
(takes place during the fall semester, after the application deadline), will
fare better in the process. Prerequisite courses are listed in Admissions
packet.
It is strongly preferred that prerequisite courses be completed within five
years of application. Prerequisite courses which have been taken longer than
five (5) years prior to date of desired entrance will have points deducted from
the admission process.
