Conference Description
Textbook Conference: Weekly review and discussion of assigned
dermatologic textbook reading with faculty member.
Dermatopathology Conference: Twice weekly conference which includes prior
individual slide review and review with a dermatopathologist. Both resident cases and cases
from assigned reading are reviewed.
Basic Science Conference: Monthly review of the Journal of
Investigative Dermatology with a faculty member which addresses current
basic science research.
Journal Club: Weekly review and discussion of journal articles from
Archives of Dermatology and the Journal of the American Academy of
Dermatology as well as articles from Pediatric Dermatology with a faculty member.
Grand Rounds Diagnostic Conference: Weekly patient viewing to
describe findings and discuss differential diagnoses with faculty
members and community dermatologists.
American Academy of Dermatology Meeting: A 6-day national meeting
held annually, to include 2nd and 3rd
year residents, in which they are expected to present a paper at one of
the sessions.
Guest Speaker Series: Invited experts in ancillary fields such as
Psychiatry, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Alternative Medicine in Dermatology, how to
manage private practice, and pharmacy compounds.
New Mexico Dermatological Society Meeting: A 2-day local meeting held
semi-annually which includes guest speakers. Residents are required to attend
and present at least one case at each meeting. For information on attending,
