EMSA offers a full range of Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Prehospital Trauma Life Support courses. These are offered several times each semester.
EMSA offers short courses in Hazardous Materials Awareness, designed for emergency responders. These courses provide a basic foundation in Hazmat emergency management. The Center for Disaster Medicine a UNM, our sister organization, periodically offers a AHLS (Advanced Hazmat Life Support) program.
EMSA’s sustainment program is designed for paramedics who are certified, but not clinically active. This 10 day program includes continuing education and didactic content needed for state and national recertification, and in addition, includes lab sessions and clinical rotations in the UNM ED and ICUs, and on EMS units. This program allows the inactive paramedic exposure to the clinical environment, and ensures re-familiarization with critical clinical skills. This program is offered twice per semester.
EMSA offers a range of refresher programs, and continuing education classes for all levels of EMS provider.
EMS offers a two-day class in automobile extrication, designed for EMS providers and firefighters. This class is usually offered twice per semester.
The UNM EMS Academy has a division dedicated to providing customized education offerings to groups.
