The Institute for Ethics is committed to
educational programs aimed at the:

Creation, evaluation and oversight of ethics
educational activities at UNMHSC

Development of model competence-driven clinical
ethics training for medical students, residents, physicians, allied
health professionals and staff

Development of an ethics fellowship and faculty
scholars program

Hosting of regional and national conferences and
workshops to enhance professionalism and ethics knowledge and
skills.

Educational lectures are provided by faculty associated
with the Institute for professional groups, organizations and
individuals on current issues in Special Populations Health and Research
Ethics, Biomedical Ethics, Law and Policy, Mediation, Values and

The Joan Gibson Health Care Ethics Certificate ProgramModules I and II
Soon to begin Fall 2009 Registration

Module I focuses on basic ethical issues in health care - met every Tuesday (Feb. 10 – March 24) and two Saturday sessions (Feb. 7 and March 28)

Module II explores ethical challenges and will begin in September 2009 (Eight (8) Tuesday afternoons 4:30 - 6:30 and one (1) - Saturday sessions to end the program)
