Infectious Diseases Division encompasses research, patient care

The Infectious Diseases Division consists of 14 full-time and four part-time faculty members. Care is provided at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center and the New Mexico Veterans Health Care System, and includes primary care for persons with HIV/AIDS. The Division offers infectious diseases fellowship training with extensive research opportunities, including international collaborations.

The Laboratory of Fungal Pathogenesis studies the molecular pathogenesis of invasive candidiasis and also investigates translational aspects of Candida infection, including mechanisms of biofilm formation, and echinocandin resistance.

The Center for Global Health is multidisciplinary with involvement from faculty across a number of Departments, Schools, and Centers at the University of New Mexico, and our international sites. The Program has a tripartite mission that includes promoting excellence in research, education, and clinical service activities.

The New Mexico AIDS Education and Training Center provides clinical training, and also collaborates with the AIDS InfoNet, providing multilingual information on HIV/AIDS services and treatments.
