Department of Pediatrics
Prevention and Population Sciences
The Division of Prevention and Population Sciences within the Department of
Pediatrics is a multidisciplinary, multi-ethnic group of 50+ researchers
representing the diverse communities of New Mexico with over 30 years of
experience in prevention of chronic diseases and injury. We are engaged in
research, evaluation, education and dissemination activities in
collaboration with other researchers, professionals and communities around
the country. The priority areas for our research include:
- Nutrition, physical activity and obesity prevention
- Adolescent and school health and youth risk behaviors
- Tobacco, alcohol and substance abuse prevention
- Injury prevention
- Dissemination research and translation of research findings into
usable formats
