Neonatology
The Division of Neonatology provides service through the newborn
intensive care unit, a 50-bed tertiary care service for critically ill newborns
including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and high frequency
ventilation. The neonatal transport team moves high-risk neonates between
statewide referral hospitals and the newborn intensive care unit. The
Neonatology Developmental Care Program provides an environmental,
family-centered approach to the care of infants born at risk, from NICU
admission through discharge into the community. The Neonatal Outreach
Education Program provides on-going educational and training needs of hospitals,
and physicians, nurses and other allied health professionals. Follow-up
programs are available for infants at high-risk for physical and developmental
