Personal Statement:
I have been at UNM since 1983.  My main clinical interest has been caring for chronic and severe mental illness particularly schizophrenia.  I have done this in a variety of settings including the Psychiatric Emergency Service, the Inpatient wards, Outpatient clinics and Health Care for the Homeless.  My main teaching interest is in teaching Residents and Medical Students how to evaluate and manage severe mental illness in both acute settings and long term clinical followup.  I have also participated in multiple clinical research trials of new medications for schizophrenia.
