Electronic Submissions
The HRPO is moving towards an electronic system. In an effort to prepare for the upcoming changes, we do not accept HARD COPY submissions. Check out the Submissions page for the guidance document.

We support four UNMHSC Human Research Review Committees (HRRC) and one UNM Institutional Review Board (IRB). Our commitment is to promote the safety and protection of individuals involved in human research by providing support, guidance, and education to facilitate ethical and scientifically sound research. The HRP Office has 14 full-time employees and 2 part-time employees, including 4 Chairs and  12 staff persons. Committee members are drawn from various disciplines across UNM and the surrounding Albuquerque community.

HRPO Activities

During the last fiscal year, the HRPO received the following:

  • 723 New Study Applications
  • 1395 Amendment Requests
  • 1106 Continuation, Reactivation, Closure Requests

Review and Processing Time

The figure below represents the average turn-around times for New Study Applications that were processed in 2011. The Data include the time spent with the HRPO, the HRRC/IRB, and the Investigator.
