National Institute of Health (NIH) - The primary Federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research.

Health and Human Services (HHS) - The U.S. government's principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.

  • International Compilation of Human Subject Protections 2008.   Lists 900 laws, regulations, and guidelines form 84 countries on human subject protections.  New this year is a separate listing of the standards that govern research governing research involving embryos, stem cells, and cloning.
