In planning the garden we have assembled a cross-campus committee including representatives from each of the major components of the HSC, School of Architecture and Planning, College of Fine Arts, UNM Art Museum, and UNM Facility Planning.
As an outcome of our planning, we have concentrated our efforts on what is being called the Memorial Garden Walkway – an east to west pedestrian corridor which we hope to develop over the next five years. The Memorial Garden Walkway is the major corridor that will connect many of the HSC’s educational and research components. The landscape architect for the Memorial Garden Walkway is Bob Johns.
The Memorial Garden Walkway will feature the Promenade, the major east to west corridor, as well as several smaller gardens including the Canyon, Memorial, Medicinal Meadow, and Marsh Gardens. To make the walkway a reality, our first priority is to put into place the Canyon and Memorial Gardens - creating the cornerstone for the UNM HSC transformation.
