Sculpture by Ernest Shaw, MD
The Ernest Shaw sculptures were given to the University by Michael Rosenbaum and family in memory of his father Milton Rosenbaum, MD, who was a faculty member in the UNM’s Department of Psychiatry for more than 15 years.
Originally trained in psychiatry, Shaw left the profession to pursue his passion for sculpture, believing that he could serve others more effectively through his artistry. Shaw believes, “Great art involves and invites our openness to the awe and wonder of being human . . . it is about opening the mind or touching the vulnerable depths of the heart.” Shaw lives outside New York City where he has returned to his first passion of practicing medicine.
