1889 - University of New Mexico founded in Albuquerque.
1936 - Indian Health Services hospital opened on its current location in Albuquerque.
1937 - Carrie Tingley Hospital opened in Hot Springs, NM.
1945 - College of Pharmacy established.
1947 - UNM Golf Course opened. Today this course borders the HSC on the north.
1949 - College of Pharmacy graduates first students.
1954 - Bernalillo County-Indian Hospital (BCIH) opened.
1955 - College of Nursing begins accepting students.
1963 - Medical Sciences Library opened.
1964 - School of Medicine began as two year medical school.
1966 - School of Medicine given approval to become a 4-year medical school program.
1967 - Basic Medical Sciences Building opened.
1968 - BCIH was renamed the Bernalillo County Medical Center. (BCMC)
1969 - Mental Health Center admitted its first patients.
1972 - College of Pharmacy Radiopharmacy program established.
1972 - Diagnostic & Therapeutic Sciences (Allied Health) programs began.
1974 - College of Pharmacy moved to the new building on the HSC campus.
1974 - College of Pharmacy First Accredited Radiopharmacy Program in nation.
1975 - UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center (CRTC) opened.
1976 - Medical Sciences Library Building was completed.
1977 - NM Poison and Drug Information Center became part of the College of Pharmacy.
1977 - UNM Medical Center was established.
1977 - Family Practice Building opened.
1978 - Children’s Psychiatric Hospital opened.
1978 - Dental Programs Building (Novitski Hall) opened.
1979 - Primary Care Curriculum began at the School of Medicine.
1979 - BCMC was renamed University Hospital.
1981 - Carrie Tingley Hospital moved to Albuquerque.
1982 - Biomedical Research Building (BRF) opened.
1983 - UNM Hospital designated as only Level I Trauma Center in NM.
1983 - UNM Hospital began its Lifeguard Helicopter service.
1984 - College of Pharmacy began offering Graduate Degrees.
1985 - The Critical Care Wing at University Hospital opened.

1986 - The Center for Non-Invasive Diagnosis (CNID) Building opened.
1989 - Health Sciences and Services Building opened.
1991 - Ambulatory Care Center opened.
1993 - New Problem-based learning curriculum began at the School of Medicine.

1995 - UNM Hospital opened two additional off-site outpatient clinics.
1996 - College of Pharmacy established the Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
1998 - Cancer Research Facility (CRF) opened.
2003 - Research Incubator Building (RIB) opened.
2003 - UNM Hospital opened its Outpatient Surgery and Imaging Services Facility.
2005 - Domenici Hall expansion opened.
2007 - Domenici Center for Health Sciences Education opened.
2007 - UNM Hospitals Barbara and Bill Richardson Pavilion opened.
