The Pre-Anesthesia clinic is located on the second floor of the University Hospital across from the main operating rooms. The phone number is 505-272-2410 and the fax number is 505-272-9096. The medical director is Robert Rudawsky, MD.  Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 6:30am until 5:00pm.  On Fridays the clinic is open from 07:30am until 5:00pm.  Referrals are made by your surgeon, and patients are seen on a first come/first serve basis.

This is a clinic designed exclusively to assess you or your loved one before surgery. You can expect measurement of your vital signs (heart rate, temperature, blood pressure and respiratory rate), an interview with a anesthesiologist or a physician’s assistant.  Based upon your evaluation, blood work, electrocardiogram (EKG), chest X-ray, or other studies  may also be obtained. The staff will instruct you about what to expect throughout the perioperative period. You will receive instructions about when to eat before surgery and what medicines to take before surgery.
