Alyssa Johnson

Alyssa Johnson is from the Navajo tribe and originally from Thoreau, NM. In 2009, she graduated from the New Mexico Military Institue in Roswell, NM. Alyssa is currently a level II student at the College of Nursing, Health Science Center at the University of New Mexico. She plans to complete her Bachelor of Nursing and continue her education to become a Nurse Practitioner. Alyssa's main inspiration is her mother. With her education she plans to help her Navajo people as a future health professional.

Indians into Medicine Lecture Series-Friday April 26, 2013

The Center for Native American Health will be hosting Nicole Stern, MD FACP, President of the Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP). Dr. Stern is a member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe and is a current physician at the Student Health Services at the University of California, Santa Barbar. Her presentation "An Apache Sports Medicine Physician Shares her Story" will be from 10:30am-11:30am in the Domenici Auditorium. Please join us for the lecture and students are welcome to meet Dr. Stern at the luncheon from 12pm-1pm in HSSB 104. Please not this presentation will not be recorded.

UNM Health Sciences Career Day 2013- Saturday April 27, 2013.

The UNM Health Sciences Center (HSC) is excited to host the 2nd annual UNM Health Sciences Career Day on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 8:00am to 3:30pm at the UNM Health Sciences Center North Campus for undergraduate students interested in exploring health-related academic programs and careers. The Health Sciences Career Day is a FREE one-day program that gives NM undergraduate students the opportunity to receive information from the UNM HSC programs, hear from current HSC students, and participate in hands-on lab activities. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.   

 
UNM Center for Native American Health Convocation- Wednesday May 8, 2013.

The Center for Native American Health is proud to announce that we will be holding a convocation to honor our graduates. The convocation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Community Mentorship Program

The CNAH Community Mentorship Program is a unique program that provides Native American students interested in pursuing health careers the opportunity to interface and engage with Native health sciences students and health professions. The program further allows students to explore health careers and build competitive applications to health sciences academic programs.
