The UNM College of Nursing’s spring graduating class of 2005 has embraced philanthropy. It has made the first senior class gift in the history of the College of Nursing.

It did so through a new annual gift program, introduced by the College Development Office, that is off and running at an impressive pace. Spring graduates made 24 pledges ranging from $30 to $200 for a total commitment of $1,790. Their contributions support in part the cost of the new sign for our College of Nursing in the lobby of our Health Sciences building. Just below the sign is a plaque acknowledging the 2005 Senior Class gift.

When students graduate from the College and become alumni, we ask them for annual gifts to support scholarships, programs, equipment, faculty and a host of funding initiatives. The Senior Class Gift Program gives students an opportunity to learn about their role of giving back as alumni to our public university.

Nursing graduates choose to ensure that their experiences and memories over the past two or more years are remembered not only with reunion gatherings but with a significant legacy gift from their class. All individual pledges can be made in honor of someone special to the donor—usually a parent, spouse, faculty member or friend.

Thank you, Spring Graduating Class of 2005, for making a difference in the lives of those nursing students who follow you!
