Giving Societies

In 1955, the UNM College of Nursing opened its doors with 12 students and several offices in Marron Hall. The tiny program of old and the exceptional College we know today have this in common: support from open-hearted and determined friends and alumni who understand the promise of a great college. Each day, private gifts work to fulfill that promise. Gifts support students in a quest to obtain a superior education and apply that learning to improving the world. Gifts allow the faculty the freedom to discover and create.

Wishing to more formally acknowledge and thank donors, annual donor recognition societies were established. There are the Friends of Nursing at three different gift levels ($100-249, $250-499, and $500-999) and the Nightingale Society at the $1,000 and more gift level. Annual contributions are extremely important, as they demonstrate a sincere interest in the nursing programs and commit a pattern of giving by setting a generous example for others to follow.

Growing the next generation of practicing nurses, nursing faculty, scholars, and leaders will need your private support more than ever before. Graduating more nurses and attracting more nursing faculty are dependent upon everyone working together.
