Danilo helps Lydia cook dinner. He encourages Lydia to do as many tasks around the house as possible. He recognizes her mental decline and hopes his efforts will keep her as functional as possible. He also recognizes she is past the point where she could live by herself and decides he probably needs to meet with an attorney to discuss care for Lydia should he precede her in death. He has never formalized any such documents in the past.

This week, Lydia spends time in the kitchen cooking dinner with Danilo. She is still able to do many routine things in the kitchen herself, but with assistance. Unassisted, Lydia may do such things as place food to be baked in the refrigerator instead of in the oven, leave burners on, or place food items in the dishwasher. With verbal cues, she is better able to stay on track. While in the kitchen preparing dinner, Lydia is preparing to heat soup on the stove and places the plastic container on the burners. Danilo reminds her to use a saucepan instead of a plastic bowl. She comments on how silly she is. After dinner is over, Lydia begins to empty the dishwasher (before it ran) and puts dirty dishes away in the cupboards. Danilo stops and tells her that the dishwasher has not yet cleaned the dishes.
