New Hires at the College
The College of Nursing would like to welcome the following individuals to the College of Nursing staff:

Jake Chavez, Administrative Assistant III, and Gina Uris-Sandoval, Program Manager. Both new staff members work on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Grant (RWFJ), assisting Dr. Marie Lobo and the new RWJF Health Policy Students.

RWJF Health Policy Students
The College of Nursing would like to announce the first students admitted to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Concentration in the existing PhD in Nursing Program.

Full-time students include Loyce Phoenix, RN, MPH, who has been working with Indian Health Service, and Mark Siemon, MPH, MSN, who has been working with San Felipe Pueblo and in other Native health services for a total of 15 years. Two part-time students were admitted, Carolyn Montoya, MSN, CPNP, a faculty member at the UNM College of Nursing and president of NAPNAP, and Kelly Schmidt, MSN, Director, School of Nursing Minot State University.

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Graduates
Two years ago, the College of Nursing introduced its first class of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) students. In May 2008, five graduate students completed the master’s degree program as PNP certified nurses, and five more students will finish their MSN as PNP certified nurses in May 2009. Congratulations, PNP graduates!
