John Harvey, a soon-to-be BSN graduate from Gallup, and Ari Griego-Marsh, who will graduate in May with her MSN with a concentration in midwifery, received the Anne Winter Nursing Scholarship. Ms. Winter's family honors her memory by giving three scholarships annually to Native American and Hispanic students. Ms Winter was an RN from St. Joseph Hospital and acted as the hospital’s physician recruiter for years. Congratulations, John and Ari!
The College of Nursing would like to welcome Dr. Melinda Tinkle, Associate Professor and Research Team Leader, as the newest member of the College of Nursing faculty.
The UNM College of Nursing has received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to study the effectiveness of an online educational program, The Neighborhood, a virtual community featuring the stories of fictional characters within households and community agencies. The grant is part of the RWJF’s program, Evaluating Innovations in Nursing Education, a national initiative that supports evaluations of interventions that expand teaching capacity or promote faculty recruitment and retention in schools of nursing. Project Director Jean Giddens, PhD, RN, Professor, created The Neighborhood to inspire nursing education reform. With this grant, she plans to evaluate the effectiveness of The Neighborhood on faculty recruitment and retention, and student graduation rates.
