Socorro Escandón is an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico, College of Nursing in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Escandón earned a Diploma in Nursing from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing; a Bachelor in Health Administration from Northern Arizona University; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing from the University of Arizona. Dr. Escandón has been involved with nursing since 1969. She has been a critical care nurse; a nurse manager of critical care units, and a community nurse case manager. Her content areas in nursing education are nursing administration, community nursing, and instrument translation. Dr. Escandón’s research interests are intergenerational family caregiving, grounded theory and instrument development. She is one of three authors in a chapter on Nursing Case Management in Lubkin’s Chronic Illness; co-author of “Identifying and Recruiting Mexican American Partners and Sustaining Community Partnerships in Journal of Transcultural Nursing; and author of “Mexican American Intergenerational Caregiving Model” in Western Journal of Nursing Research. |
