Penny has overseen the Finance Department since she joined the College of Nursing staff in December 2002. She provides direction and leadership in the management, control, and reporting of unrestricted, restricted, and endowment funds for the College. Prior to this, she was Audit Supervisor at Pulakos & Alongi, Ltd, a midsize certified public accounting firm in Albuquerque. Her expertise is in audits of not-for-profit entities and audits of casinos with race tracks, as well as S corporation taxation. Penny obtained her Certified Public Accountant License in March 2000. She graduated cum laude from the University of New Mexico in May 1998 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an Accounting concentration. While attending classes, she worked full time for the Undergraduate Medical Education Department at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Professional Memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New Mexico Society of CPAs. Community organizations in which Penny is active include the Albuquerque Chapter of CPAs, where she is currently Treasurer; All Faiths Receiving Home, where she was Treasurer for six years; and the American Society of Women Accountants, where she is Chair of the Continuing Professional Education Committee.
