Louise Kahn is a lecturer and clinical instructor at the College of Nursing, Health Sciences Center, University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Louise earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Washington in Seattle, a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certificate from the University of Colorado in Denver, and a dual Master’s Degree in Nursing with a Community Health Concentration, and Latin American Studies, with a focus on Border Health. Louise has worked in primary and public health care, and community-based health care organizations in New Mexico and Southern Colorado for over 25 years, as well as in epidemiological research and philanthropic projects.
Louise’s primary focus has been on developing strategies and service systems to care for economically and socially marginalized families with children, and increasing access to health care for underserved individuals. She has worked in collaboration with community groups and agencies to develop and sustain culturally competent domestic violence services, health care services in homeless and battered women’s shelters, and health care and advocacy services for immigrant and medically indigent families. |
