Cindy Mendelson is an Associate Professor at the College of Nursing Health Sciences Center, University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Dr. Mendelson earned Bachelor’s Degrees in anthropology from the University of South Florida and nursing from Regent’s College, a Master’s Degree in anthropology from the University of Arizona, and a PhD in nursing from the University of Arizona with a minor in medical anthropology. Dr. Mendelson has taught at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. Her content areas include health promotion, community health nursing, and qualitative research methods. Dr. Mendelson conducts ethnographic research in the areas of women’s daily activities of health work in the context of health and illness, symptoms self-management in lupus and scleroderma, the internet as a source of support for women with chronic illness and translating qualitative research methods to internet applications.

Dr. Mendelson is the coordinator for the Community Health Concentration in the Master’s Degree Program and the Doctoral Program.
