Geoff Shuster is Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico College of Nursing in Albuquerque. He earned a BSN from the University of Pennsylvania, MSN from the University of Washington, and Doctorate in Nursing from the University of California-San Francisco. He also has an undergraduate degree in history and a master's degree from Temple University, with a focus in mid-American and modern British history, which includes graduate work at Oxford University. Dr. Shuster has been involved with nursing education since 1986, first at the University of Virginia and, since 1991, at UNM. His teaching experience includes baccalaureate-, master's-, and doctoral-level courses. Content areas include nursing education, administration, home health, community health, research, and statistics.
Dr. Shuster’s research interests include home health, community health, and health promotion among the elderly, as well as online distance education. He recently completed a 3-year HRSA grant involving online distance education for RN-BSN students as principal investigator. He has also been involved in a federally funded multidisciplinary virtual reality project with faculty from the School of Medicine and Engineering. Recent research and publications have examined computer literacy among nursing students.
