Jennifer Spisla is a Clinical Lecturer, assisting with the integration of simulation and technologies into the curriculum at the College of Nursing and within the Health Sciences Center. She is excited about and dedicated to creating meaningful learning experiences in environments immersed in advocacy and inquiry. She is engaged in several projects assessing knowledge structure and exploring cognitive psychology in simulated environments. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Nursing (Community Health Care Systems) degrees from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. She has completed post-master's course work in educational process and nursing education. Since graduating with a BSN in 1994, Jennifer has worked in a variety of settings, including rural hospitals and clinics. After completing her MN in 1998, she worked in state public health, engaging in health promotion and disease prevention through community collaboration. She has been teaching and assisting in the development of new nursing programs and simulation since 2001.
She loves being out in nature, writing poetry, and dancing. She is dedicated to the preservation of the natural environment, birds of prey, and indigenous cultures.
