Dr. Andrea Wallace is an assistant professor with the College of Nursing. Dr. Wallace graduated magna cum laude in psychology and biology from the University of Colorado Boulder, earned both a clinical doctorate (ND) and Doctor of Philosophy in nursing from the University of Colorado Denver Health Science Center, and completed post-doctoral training in healthcare quality and outcomes at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Wallace’s research activities have included examining how patient perceptions of service organization influences self-care management behaviors and clinical outcomes, interpreting a statewide survey of chronic back pain, conducting multi-site behavioral interventions, and participating in outpatient quality improvement. She is particularly interested how in health system innovations can be translated into improved chronic illness outcomes, especially related to chronic illness self-management for those with limited literacy.

Dr. Wallace is a clinical nurse specialist with advanced certification in diabetes management who has cared for patients in primary care and community settings. She endeavors to offer students critical insight about service delivery to vulnerable populations across the continuum of care. When not chasing her young son, walking her dog, or hanging out with her husband, she can be found watching TV with her cat.
