About the Café

Volunteer Grid
You will find a large grid, holding a list of researchers and students within the UNM Health Sciences Center who have voluntarily listed their interests, expertise, and contact information. If you would like to add your name to the grid, please send your information to Casey Burnett, at: cburnett@salud.unm.edu. The grid serves as a communications resource for directly contacting members of this interest group.

Faculty Mentors
Faculty members who are willing to mentor students or researchers new to qualitative work have indicated their willingness to do so on that grid. Please contact them directly to discuss your interests or pose your questions.

Meeting Minutes
Another thing you will find here includes the minutes (informally taken by one of us) from our initial meeting and planning session. If you read the minutes, you will note that we are planning to meet quarterly. These meeting dates and locations will be posted on this site. The meetings are generally envisioned as informal encounters for like-minded peers to discuss research issues. Planning for future projects, etc. may also take place in the meetings, with input from all voices present.

Brown Bags
We have also begun to arrange periodic brown bag sessions which feature either a speaker or a focused discussion topic. The first two such brown bags will occur in spring of 2005, and the dates are published on this website. If you have ideas for a brown bag or would like to be a speaker, please contact Dr. Jennifer Averill within the College of Nursing . Her contact information is on the large grid.

A Collective Voice
The group is in its early stages, and we envision a collective voice for qualitative research interests. Please join us with your own ideas and thoughts about how best to advance greater understanding of qualitative thinking and research in our health sciences community. Welcome and we hope to meet you at an upcoming meeting of this qualitative interest group!
