Darren Braude, MD, Associate Professor of
Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico and Medical
Director for PHI Air Medical of New Mexico presents an in depth
multimedia module exploring the use of the gum-elastic bougie, also
known as an endotracheal tube introducer, as a tool for adult Airway
Management. A discussion with residents in the Emergency Room
provides the instructional portion. Re-enacted scenarios create real
medical situations for use of the bougie and filmed skill
demonstrations summarize proper technique for the four uses
described:
- Use of the Bougie in the Difficult
Airway. OR Scenario
- Use of the Bougie to Assist in Changing
an Endotracheal Tube. MICU Scenario
- Use of the Bougie as an Adjunct to
Endotracheal Tube Confirmation. ER Scenario
- Use of the Bougie as an Adjunct to
