What is the CPR Committee?

Our committee is responsible for quality assurance for in hospital "codes". We review the code sheets to identify any issues regarding appropriateness of care, documentation, or other problem areas that may need attention or intervention. We facilitate changes in policies, documents, education and equipment in order to improve outcomes when patients, visitors or staff are critically ill.

What do I do with the code sheets?

Each hospital area has a designee, usually the nurse manager, who is responsible for getting the code sheets to the committee.  Ask your charge nurse or nurse manager who that person is for your floor.

Who do I tell if the code didn't go well?

Your shift charge nurse is the first person to contact.  You may also discuss it with your nurse manager, or e-mail the CPR committee chairman Dr. Steven Weiss at SWeiss@salud.unm.edu , or the Co-Chair Dr. Michel Boivin at MBoivin@salud.unm.edu . Please include the date of the event, the medical record number and any other information you think is appropriate in the e-mail.
