2009 IPTM's Advanced Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation*
August 24 thru August 28, 2009

The Advanced Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation Training will present:

                    - Pedestrian/cyclist impact dynamics
                    - The effects of vehicle design on pedestrian/cyclist injuries and movement
                    - The origin of basic equations developed to analyze impact speed in pedestrian/cyclist involved
                      collisions
                    - The orgin of equations used to analyze pedestrian/cyclist motion as a result of collision
                    - Developing a systematic approach to pedestrian/cyclist collision investigation techniques
                    - The use of the
PEDBIKE 2000 Plus© software
                   
- Real world study case analysis
                    - Participation in crash testing to assist in the overall pedestrian/cyclist analysis


Continuing Education Credits: [40 hours] of Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) are available for a $7.00 fee through the Institute of Police Technology and Management, a division of the University of North Florida.  One unit is awarded for each ten contact hours.  Forms will be provided in class for interested participants.  Prerequisite:  It is recommended for this IPTM training to have completed IPTM’s Pedestrian/Bicycle Crash Investigation course, or its equivalent, prior to taking this class.

Designing for Pedestrian Safety

The New Mexico Pedestrian Safety Initiative Program held a training course entitled Designing for Pedestrian Safety.This FHWA training was held on May 19 & 20 at UNM's Center for Disaster Medicine and was attended by Engineers, Planners, Traffic Safety, Citizen Advocates and Public Health Professionals.  The two day training involved learning about how pedestrians belong in all design operations, and safety considerations.  A safety audit of the San Mateo corridor was completed to reinforce how effective pedestrian crash countermeasures could be implemented to create effective pedestrian safety solutions.
