UNM ED Wilderness and International Medicine

Our Model

Our university based group actively collaborates with national, international and non governmental organizations to educate and assist in the development of emergency medicine internationally. At this time, our main healthcare initiatives are focused in Latin America, the Indian Subcontinent (notably Nepal), and to a certain extent, Western Europe. We helped to develop one of the most powerful educational resources available to provide emergency medical care training to healthcare providers throughout Mexico and Latin America, known as the PACEMD program (the Pan American Collaborative Emergency Medicine Development Program).  Our emergency medicine modules, developed through PACEMD, has now propogated to other Latin American countries, including Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, and Colombia.
