It is expected that most of the requirements listed above will be completed during the 2nd year EMS rotation. Most of the required meetings occur monthly, and the meeting schedule and travel directions will be posted on the EMS calendar of events on the EMS website.  We recommend that you look ahead and plan for these meetings prior to the beginning of the rotation. All required readings should be completed during the rotation. Apart from the previously listed readings, the following articles are also required during the rotation:

The FEMA ICS courses are available on line at:

 http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/

These courses should also be completed during the EMS month.  A certificate of completion is required and must be submitted to residency office.  It is expected that the EMS case review (To be presented at the Tuesday conference), the EMS quality assurance project and the lecture to an EMS audience will all be accomplished during this rotation month. In order to facilitate these requirements, the resident must meet with an EMS faculty advisor early in the course of the rotation.   An advisor will be assigned, on a rotational basis, for each rotation month (See EMS calendar).  You may choose an alternate advisor, if that faculty member is available and agrees. A written test will be administered at the end of your rotation that you are required to pass.  The test will cover material found in the required readings, as well as information you will glean from your practical EMS experiences during the month.
