Why Albuquerque:
Born and raised in Raton, NM (about 225 miles NE of ABQ). My wife is an
elementary school teacher here and we have strong ties and personal
commitments to serve NM.
.....Anything else interesting:
Married to Shelly with two children, Teanna and Sean. We live on the
West Side with our beagle (Georgie), our black lab (Daisy) and our
parakeet (Zoe)!
I enjoy
doing a lot of things outside of medicine. I enjoy coaching the kid’s
soccer teams, going to the Rio Grande Zoo, the Albuquerque Aquarium, and
Cliff’s Amusement Park. I enjoy getting back to Raton as often as
possible to see family and friends. Shelly is a 5th grade teacher in
the Albuquerque Public Schools system.
I graduated
from the UNM School of Medicine and decided to continue my training here
because this is an outstanding program, and staying here was a great
opportunity for me and my family!
Life Before Med
School: I worked
as an ER tech at Miners Colfax Medical Center in Raton (as a pre-med
student) and completed my EMT-B and EMT-I before medical school.
Hobbies:
Attend COUNTRY
concerts, listening to country music, youth league coaching, and
spending time with family and friends.
Worst/Best job:
Best-Serving ice cream and burgers at Dairy Queen during high school
(can’t even count how much ice cream I consumed during that two year
period). Worst-One day as a telemarketer (actually was about a few
hours before I threw in the white towel…).
Favorite Band:
Toby Keith, of
course!
Favorite
Movie:
90% of all movies
I’ve watched in the past 5 years have been rated G – see above!
