This section of the EM website is primarily designed to answer your questions about the four week
electives in Emergency Medicine, Emergency Ultrasound, EM Critical
Care, Disaster Medicine, and Wilderness Medicine, offered through the Department of Emergency
Medicine at UNM. You will also find links to other sites of interest to
medical students heading into emergency medicine, and links to lectures,
cases and other information to use during your rotation.

group of faculty
and residents and a busy
ED with a large volume of high acuity patients creating one of the best EM
training programs in the country. We value quality patient care,
accessibility for all, interactive teaching and continued learning through
scholarly activity. The student elective is a great way to learn more
