Two-year stint in nursing at Gallup Indian Medical Center. I was raised in Wilmington, Delaware. I am currently Medical Director at University Hospital Urgent Care. I have one son, Will. Magda Sofia Rodriguez,  M.D. Dept. of Emergency Medicine	CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR MEDICAL DIRECTOR, ALBUQUERQUE JOB CORPS CENTER DIPLOMATE AMERICAN BOARD FAMILY PRACTICE Med School: Universidad Central del Caribe, Puerto Rico Residency: University of New Mexico, Family Practice Interests: Adolescent Medicine, Women's Health, Acute Care Medicine and Addiction Medicine   Hola, in essence, I've gone from the Island of Enchantment to the Land of Enchantment, trading hurricanes and seas for sandstorms and mountains. I was born and raised in Santurce, Puerto Rico, the island where I was graduated from university and medical school. I did two years residency in general surgery and two years residency in urology in Washington D.C.. I fell in love with someone living in New Mexico, moved here and have been married for seventeen years. I also fell in love with the family practice residency program at University of New Mexico where I completed my training. I felt this way because of the reliability, supportiveness, and flexibility of the doctors and residents in the program at the University of New Mexico Hospital. I then went on to work at the Center for Alcohol and Substance Abuse Addictions (CASAA) for three years, among other places in Albuquerque. I started working in the Urgent Care Center of the UNM Hospital in 1990; and I have been there ever since. My other interests include Jazzercise, watching Mexican soaps, and going to Disney World to de-stress. When I am not at work, I am taking care of my husband, Jerry, and our new cocker spaniel puppy, Sofi.
