Hard to believe I
have been in New Mexico for more than a decade; it really is the land of
Entrapment. I certainly don’t regret my decision to relocate here. We have a
unique combination of outstanding residents, down-to-earth but highly productive
faculty, endless EMS and academic opportunities and a beautiful outdoor
environment. I am very fortunate to live in the Village of Corrales with my wife
Stacia, our 5 year old son August and our animal menagerie. My hobbies – when I
can find time for them - include gardening, biking, hiking, telemark skiing,
riding our horses, martial arts, tennis, flying, travel, cooking and, above all
else, eating.

CHRISTOPHER BROWN, M.D., FACEP
Dept. of Emergency Medicine
|
EMSA LECTURER III ALS
Med School: University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ
Residency: University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM
Interests: anything related to learning, interpersonal communication, and
cognition, as well as Disaster Medicine and greater integration across Emergency
Medical Services.
I have been a
practicing Emergency Medicine physician in Albuquerque since 1988. Before that,
I worked as a teacher in numerous contexts, and always knew I’d return to it.
At UNM’s EMS Academy, I hope to be part of educating a new generation of
paramedics to increasing standards of competence, complexity and responsibility.
I can never do for my professors what they did for me; I can only hope to pay it
forward.

JEFFERY
BULLARD-BERENT, M.D.
Dept. of Emergency Medicine
|
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Medical Director, Pediatric Emergency DEPARTMENT
Assistant Residency Director
Med School: Wayne State University, School of Medicine, MI
Residency: Pediatric Residency-LAC-USC, Los Angeles, CA
Interests:
I am a Pediatric Emergency
doc who has practiced in a variety of settings prior to joining UNM in 2002.
I've practiced general pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine in
California, Oregon, Nevada, Michigan, and finally New Mexico. I'm
incredibly lucky to really love what I do. I see it as a privilege to
take care of other people's kids, and like to insure that its done right.
Working with residents and medical students keeps me from getting
intellectually lazy and forces me to re-evaluate how and why I manage
patients in every day. Currently I am the Medical Director of
Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the Assistant Residency Director. I
am very interested in continuous quality improvement, and medical
simulation. As I watched my wife go thru med school and residency, I
became acutely aware of how students and residents are often denigrated and
vowed to never fall into that practice. I was fortunate to find an
entire Emergency Medicine Department that has embraced that view.
