Center Advisory Committees and Boards | NIEHS | NIEHS Center Program

Center Administration is comprised of the Center Director, Deputy Director, and Center Administrator.  We call this group our "Administrative Core."  Below is a bulleted list of how the core functions in its management and oversight of the Center:

  • administers the overall Center Program and budget

  • designed and functions to coordinate the development of research and facility cores

  • oversees the progress of the Pilot Project Program

  • recruits new investigators into the Center through the Research Cores, Facility Cores, and the Pilot Project Program

  • fosters interactions between pilot project researchers and the developing RCs and FCs

  • coordinates meetings between investigators

  • solicits input and communicates with external advisors

  • works with COEP to communicate with communities

  • provides direction and leadership fostering the exchange of scientific information through regular meetings and communication with Center Members 

  • Constitutes the Internal Advisory Committee for the Center

  • Director and Center Administrator work with Center Members on the development of Member Profiles that are used to assess the need for FC support as well a track the use of Core facilities

  • Research Core leaders are responsible for monitoring the research progress of their Cores and developing mechanisms for interactions that build collaborations within and between the Research Cores

  • Facility Core Leaders are expected to develop and maintain stat-of-the-art technologies and services that are needed by Center Members, and to provide benefit to the Center programs through proactive outreach and training programs pertaining to their services, as well as to provide financial advantage to members for use of facilities.
