ABQ releases "Environmental
Health Report Card" written with input from NM NIEHS
Center partners such as NM Department of Health, Office of Epi and the
Center's Community Environmental Health Program.

Albuquerque Journal:
The Center for Environmental Health Sciences was
noted in an article in the Friday, May 7, 2004 edition of the Albuquerque
Journal. The title of the article was, "Environmental Group Gets Grant
to Study Community Health." Written by staff writer, Carolyn Carlson,
the article highlighted the recent minority grant received by the South
Valley Partners for Environmental Justice. Awarded to Mary Vigil, who
will be mentored by Dr. Kristine Suozzi, Bernalillo County Environmental
Health Department Director and Center Member the research sponsored through
this grant will focus on environmental issues of the Mountain View
community, which currently experiences high environmental risks.

the Albuquerque Journal:
The Center's Community Outreach and Education
Program (COEP) in conjunction with South Valley community partner, Rio
Grande Community Development, was featured in a March 9, 2004 article
entitled, "Students tour South Valley dumping sites." As part of a
class project, students choose an environmental problem and develop possible
solutions. The article is available to paid subscribers of the
