ThinkFirst Injury Prevention for Youth
Each year hundreds of New Mexico children learn how to make safe choices and reduce their risk for injury from ThinkFirst New Mexico, the state’s only chapter of the ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation.
School & Group Presentations
Health care professionals from UNM Health System visit classrooms and youth organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Club, to make engaging, age-appropriate presentations that help children and teenagers understand topics such as:
- How the brain and spine work
- Vehicle and bus safety
- Bicycle and pedestrian safety
- Playground and sports safety
- Water safety
- Violence prevention
Community Health Fairs
Invite ThinkFirst New Mexico to share information about brain and spinal cord injury prevention at your health fair. We can provide materials on a wide range of safety and injury prevention topics for events across the state.
Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention
Turn to UNM Health System for education that helps parents and caregivers learn how to safely calm a crying infant. Ask about bringing our shaken baby syndrome prevention presentation to your school, health care facility or family service program.
