UNM Health System’s Truman Services uses the latest research and developments in medicine to enhance the lives of New Mexicans living with HIV/Stage 3 (AIDS). Our faculty and staff of health professionals are committed to pursuing the treatment goal of virus suppression and improved immune system with compassion, respect for human dignity and the right to privacy.
Our medical services are available to everyone living with HIV/Stage 3 (AIDS) in the state of New Mexico.
Our goal is to help you live a healthy life with HIV. By taking medications and focusing on a healthy lifestyle, we can help you reach an undetectable HIV viral load and improve your immune system. We coordinate your care so it is comfortable, convenient, and affordable. All HIV/Stage 3 (AIDS) health services are available regardless of an ability to pay.
Primary Comprehensive Care
UNM Truman Health Services is a National Committee for Quality Assurance Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home, which means that you, our patient, always comes first. We emphasize that our practice and care is patient-centered. It is vital to us that all of your needs are met, whether they come before, during or after hours.

Our center specializes in the management of HIV. Primary care is proud to offer the following services:

Free Rapid HIV Testing
If you are a discordant couple, or at risk for getting HIV, it is important to get tested often. In addition to our primary care services we offer free HIV testing at our center.
In addition to helping you manage HIV, we provide additional care to enhance your quality of life. Our patients have access to a full range of these services including:
- Massage therapy
- Chiropractic treatment
- Nutritional support
- Wellness programs
Young Adult Services
The National Institute of Health estimates that over 20 percent of all new HIV infections occur in youths from 13 to 24 years of age. Those who are at a higher risk include:
- Young men who have sex with other men
- Bisexual or transgender teens
- Intravenous drug users
- Any teens that engage in unprotected sex

HIV is 100% preventable, especially for young adults. Ways to prevent HIV infection include:
- Using condoms.
- Always using clean needles.
- Getting tested often and between sexual partners.
We provide FREE testing at local high schools to encourage frequent testing among young people.
