If your UNM ITS NetID or HSC NetID does not validate, the following message is displayed, "**The information you entered was invalid, please try again.**" We have set up informational pages to assist you if you are unsure of your UNM ITS NetID or HSC NetID information. Remember only current UNM student, faculty, staff, preceptors, and volunteer clinical associated with the UNM Albuquerque campus can use the services remotely.
Remote access requires your browser to accept cookies. If you have turned off the use of cookies you may need to temporarily accept cookies..
If the screen won't display that asks for your NetID or you have problems once the NetID has been entered, it usually means that the browser you use needs to be updated. In this case you may get the message, "No Common Encryption Algorithm" or you may find the page will just not load at all. Older browsers may not work because they are unable to perform the 128-bit encryption or confirm the security certificates which are required to use the remote system.
The fix for this is to upgrade your web browser or install and use a different browser (such as a higher version of Netscape or Internet Explorer) when using library databases/journals. We have found Netscape 4.76 and later, or Internet Explorer 5.5 and later, work with remote access.
There are three Library employees who support the remote access service. We offer this support from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. If you happen to call when one of us is working the weekend, you can expect us to reply. Call the library's main number (272-2311) and ask a member of the Remote Access Team.
If you use AOL, MSN, or browsers other than Netscape or Internet Explorer and have difficulty accessing some databases, a solution is to minimize the proprietary browser, launch Netscape or IE and use that instead of the browser provided by your ISP.
If you have problems accessing some issues of an electronic journal, check the HSLIC catalog or eJournal Finder to verify that we should have access to the years/issues you need. If it appears you should have access to the article please contact the Library at 272-2311 or email us at Remote@salud.unm.edu.
If you have problems using a Web browser to access a resource, try a different browser. Some databases work better with one browser than another, for example, if you normally use Netscape then try Internet Explorer and see if the problem is resolved. If you use AOL and have problems, once you are connected to AOL minimize the window and open an Internet Explorer or Netscape window and try the service again. Another possible solution is to upgrade the version of the browser you are running.
You may wish to call to see if we are also experiencing problems with a resource from on-campus. If you have persistent problems accessing a resource contact a member of the remote access team by phone at 272-2311 or by email to Remote@salud.unm.edu.
In some cases, we have a limited number of concurrent user licenses and they are already in use. Try back in a few minutes to see if a resource has become available.
