Native American Health Information Services (NAHIS)
The Native
American Health Information Services program offers resources to
Native American community members and the health care providers who
serve them. Components of this program include:
Native Health Databases
Marsheena John, HSLIC Student Employee, and
Pat Bradley, Native
Services Librarian, review the
information available in Go Local.
A wealth of references to health-related articles, reports, and
other documents pertaining to the health of American Indians, Alaska
Natives, and Canadian First Nations.
Health Information Training
Classes to help people and organizations find, evaluate, and use
health information about and for Native Americans.
Collection Development Consultation
Advisement for Native American schools, libraries, chapter
houses, and health care facilities on establishing health
information collections.
Tribal Connections Four Corners Go Local
A web-based directory to help members of Native communities in
the Four Corners area find local clinics, hospitals, and other
health services; linked to the National Library of Medicine's
MedlinePlus®
website of reliable consumer health information. HSLIC joins with
partner libraries in the Four Corners states to create
Go Local.
Your donation will:
- Build outreach - Pay for outreach visits to
Native American pueblos and nations to provide onsite training
in how to use the comprehensive information on our websites.
- Decrease health disparities - Put reliable
information into the hands of Native Americans and their health
care providers to improve the quality of health care.
- Open the doors to the frontiers of knowledge -
Bring the latest research and treatment discoveries to Native
American communities throughout the state.
