Free access to a National Library of Medicine database containing over 12 million references in the fields of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and health administration. This class offers an overview of Medline searching including basic textword and subject searching, combining concepts, focusing or limiting results, viewing and saving results. Learn to translate your clinical research question into a search strategy. Participants are encouraged to bring their own search topic to class for a hands-on experience (1-1.5 hours).
During this hands-on class participants will learn how to harness tools in PubMed to quickly find needed information. Participants will search among the 15 million references in PubMed using features such as the MeSH database, combining terms, subheadings, and applying limits. Participants are encouraged to bring their own search topics since they also will receive guidance on formulating questions that yield desired results. Participants will be eligible for two (2.0) hours of Continuing Medical Education credits.
