Friday December 15th 2006 is the deadline for faculty and instructors to provide the HSLIC with class-related software for use in the HSLIC classrooms or the Public Computing PC's for Spring 2007. The HSLIC is already planning the computer classroom software installation schedule for the upcoming term. Although we make every effort to accommodate HSC faculty, the lead-time is necessary to compile, coordinate, test and install software. We want the software to perform as expected so the instructor using the software needs to be available to HSLIC to verify the software is installed to their specification.
The HSLIC does not provide funding for instructional software, so if instructors need software other than what is already available, your department will need to fund it. Please contact Ed Aalseth by email or phone (272-0650) to discuss software requirements.
We also need to know of any CD software that will accompany textbooks. For maintenance and security reasons, the CD software accompanying a textbook should not automatically install and run on a classroom or public computer. If you plan to use textbook CD software, please provide HSLIC with a copy of the software with the appropriate licensing statement for the number of copies you will need installed in the computer classroom, by the software request deadline.
The computer classrooms are located in Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center Room 226 and the MedII building. The HSLIC also has a Classroom on Wheels (COW) available for check out; email COWherd@salud.unm.edu for additional information.
If you're interested in reserving either computer classroom, consult the Library 226 calendar or the Med2 calendar for availability; http://hsc.unm.edu/library/education then contact your departmental library liaison for scheduling; http://hsc.unm.edu/library/liaison/index.shtml. You can also contact Ed Aalseth or James Perea with desired room, time, duration, and class name to schedule classrooms.
