There are five main committees that work with KMIT initiatives. Each
are described in detail below.
KMIT Leadership Council
This group, comprised of Holly Buchanan - Associate Vice President for
Knowledge Management and IT, Director of HSLIC; Ron Margolis - CIO of
University Hospitals; and Pug Burge - Chief Administrative Officer for
Health Sciences, communicates directly with the Executive Vice President of
Health Sciences regarding the planning, implementations, and enhancements of
technology at the Health Sciences Center.
KMIT Advisory Council
A faculty liaison council was commissioned by the Vice President for
Health Sciences in 2000 to support two-way dialogue among faculty and HSC
leadership concerning information / telecommunication technologies needed to
support education, research, patient care, and administration. This council,
comprised of faculty and staff, enhance communication among staff and
faculty in the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, and College of
Pharmacy and directly advises the KMIT Leadership Council.
This council's charge is to assist in envisioning the future by
identifying faculty needs in the information/ telecommunication technologies
and knowledge management resources supporting HSC Strategic Planning Goals
in education, research, clinical care and administration. Technologies and
resources include those needed to support the curriculum, distance learning,
continuing education, patient care and telehealth, research processes,
outreach, training and professional development (including simulation),
administrative services, workstation and network support, application
support, web-based technologies for internet/intranet development, public
access computing, classrooms, and audio/visual production.
KMIT Operations Council
The Operations Council consists of representatives from HSLIC's TECHS
Department, University Hospitals' IT Department, and several administrative
areas throughout the HSC. Its purpose is to ensure communications and
consistent planning and policy development throughout the IT community on
campus.
IS Steering Committee
The IS Steering Committee oversees IT system selections and discusses IT
issues for University Hospitals (UNMH). It includes representation
from UNMH Administration, the School of Medicine Administration, physicians,
training, Quality Assurance and Health Information Management.
IS Directors
The IS Directors include representatives from various departmental level
IT shops across the HSC. This group meets quarterly.
