Before detailing the services provided by the Library and Informatics Computer Services departments, it is instrumental to gain an understanding of the IT environment in which the HSLIC departments function. The IT environment extant on the North Campus is a complicated one. There are four distinct types of providers who service slightly overlapping groups of users. These are primarily broken up into roughly three groups as follows:
HSLIC IT – This is the main group consisting of User Support, Systems, Web Application and Programming, Networking, and Departmental Liasons that services the north campus research and teaching community.
External Contacts – There are three different kinds of External Contact functioning on the North Campus. These individuals are either employed by a department directly, or by the HSLIC IT department but are contractually assigned to a department.
University Hospital IT – This department, with all sub-departments, provide IT support for the Hospital, clinical areas on North Campus and off-site clinics. This document will not detail the services provided by UHIT.
